“뿌린대로 거두지 못할 수도 있다.”

무소속연구소는 2017년 씨알콜렉티브의 네번째 전시 ‘2017 프로젝트 액츠’에 참여하여 첫 농사를 짓는 도시농부의 노동 행위를 아카이빙 하는 작업인 ‘실패하는 농부’ 프로젝트를 진행했습니다. 노동의 가치와 인간의 본질에 대한 근원적인 질문에서 출발했습니다. 유통과 판매가 해결되지 않는 노동행위는 자본주의 시장에서의 비효율적 실패였지만, 역설적으로 과정을 즐기고 수확물을 나누는 행위를 통해 공유하는 예술을 사유하고 그 의미에 집중해볼 수 있었습니다.

“이에 무소속연구소가 제시하는 역발상의 방법으로서, ‘노동의 예술화’는 인간 노동의 의미를 재인식하는데 우선적인 목적이 있다. 인간의 자율적 노동을 통한 일상의 예술 활동과 창조적 생산을 전개함으로써 노동 자체를 순수한 예술의 영역으로 끌어올리려는 시도인 것이다. 그러나 우리의 노동력을 예술 생산에 국한하지 않고 농사로 시선을 돌린 것은, 보다 본질적인 대상에 기초적인 노동 행위를 가했을 때 얻어지는 결과들이 보다 명확한 함의들을 재생산 할 것으로 기대하기 때문이다. 또한 자본주의의 가치 판단 기준인 ‘성공-실패’의 패러다임에서 과감히 ‘실패’를 선택하고 일련의 실험들을 전개한 것은 시장성과 상품성에 대한 논리로부터 의도된 거리두기이기도 하다.” – 작가노트 중에서

“You might not reap what you sow.”

‘Failure Farmer’ is an archive of an urban farmer’s first farming project under “Project Acts 2017”. Questioning the value of labor and the fundamentals of humans, the project points out that labor without distribution sales is an inefficient failure, but that ironically, the process of farming itself as well as sharing the results can be enjoyed and become a form of art.

“… Musosoklab, focused on a new understanding necessary regarding human labor, and then labor can be elevated to the level of art. They attempt to perform autonomous work and creative labor in order to transform the value of labor itself into the realm of art. We begin with farming rather than artistic labor or laborious art because a basic labor practice with fundamental objects can make the concept to clear for the transition to art. In addition, we intend to have the distance of esthetics willingly to abandon the success – it deconstructs the paradigm of capitalistic value of marketability. “ – Artist Statement
